The New Alienware Aurora R16 GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming PC Just Dropped to $2799 at Dell

Dell is currently offering the Alienware Aurora R16 GeForce RTX 4090 gaming PC for only $2799.99. This deal isn’t advertised on the Alienware deals page at all. The only way to find it is by using Dell’s search function. You’d be hard pressed to build your own DIY RTX 4090 PC for the same price or cheaper since the RTX 4090 GPU is still selling at a $200-$400 markup everywhere. This is one of Alienware’s highest end configs, with a liquid-cooled 14th gen Intel Core i9 processor and a coveted RTX 4090 GPU. The Alienware Aurora R16 was one of our picks for best prebuilt gaming PCs of 2024.

This config is equipped with an Intel Core i9-14900F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The 14th-gen Intel Core i9-14900F Raptor Lake Refresh CPU boasts a max clock of 5.8GHz with 24 cores, 32 threads, and a 36MB cache. This is still Intel’s newest i9 desktop chip and it boasts a higher clock speed, more cores, more threads, and more cache than its 13th gen predecessor. The system is powered by an energy efficient 1000W 80PLUS Platinum PSU. A side panel window is installed to show off the components, but overall the R16 sports a subtle design that doesn’t scream “gaming PC”.

Speaking of the chassis, the R16 is the newest Alienware Aurora gaming chassis, and it’s the biggest departure from Alienware’s iconic design in years. The R16 is 40% smaller in volume compared to previous iterations but has better thermal management. It features a simple yet proven airflow design; air is drawn in through the side intake vents over the GPU area as well as a 120mm rear fan drawing air in and a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler exhausts air out through the top. A side benefit is that the GPU is supplied with fresh air from the outside instead of recirculating hot internal air.

The RTX 4090 is the most powerful GPU on the market. No other video card, either from NVIDIA or from AMD, comes close. As a reference, the RTX 4090 is about 110% faster at 4K gaming than the already impressive RTX 3080. It’s about 60% faster than the previous king, the RTX 3090 Ti. If you’re still not convinced, check out our RTX 4090 FE review. The 4090 is also the consumer card of choice for stuff like machine learning or AI image generation apps like Stable Diffusion. NVIDIA cards are generally more optimized than AMD cards with these kinds of apps and the amount of VRAM is of the highest priority; the 4090 has 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM, more than any other consumer NVIDIA card.
