Today Walmart has dropped the price of the Apple MacBook Air 13″ M1 Laptop to $699. The MacBook Air M1 is no longer sold at from Apple direct, however the M2 model with the same specs currently sells for $999. These are brand new units with 1 year of Apple warranty and eligible for Apple Care.
Apple MacBook Air 13″ M1 Laptop for $699
This Apple MacBook Air M1 laptop was released back in November of 2020. This is a super portable laptop weighin it at a mere 2.8 pounds. It features a 13″ 2560×1600 (227ppi) Retina display, Apple M1 8-core CPU with 7-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. The Apple M1 chip is still a very capable chip that offers excellent performance for day-to-day tasks and generates less heat and uses less power than any equivalent Intel chip. It’s a great chip specifically for the MacBook Air since it is really thin and lightweight, with limited thermal management and a smaller battery than the MacBook Pro. Since most MacBook Air users don’t ever plan on using their laptop as a hardcore gaming or rendering platform, the M1 is probably going to be the best compromise in terms of price to performance.
Apple discontinued the MacBook Air M1 model starting this month (March 2024), hence the price drop. That also means Apple isn’t going to be making any more of these M1 models and the inventory will eventually run out. Although you can always pick up a pre-owned or refurbished model elsewhere at a later date, this is probably the best opportunity to score the lowest price on a brand new and retail boxed MacBook Air complete with a manufacturer’s warranty.
