Yellowjackets Season 3 Is Officially in Production After a Long Wait

After leaving viewers with a cliffhanger at the end of Season 2, Yellowjackets Season 3 is officially on its way.

Today, Yellowjackets and Paramount+ revealed that Season 3 of the Showtime thriller is in production. “We know you’re starving… #Yellowjackets Season 3 is officially in production,” the post reads, with pictures showing off details from the show’s set.

As pointed out by The Hollywood Reporter, the Instagram post also shows a shot of the season premiere’s script, revealing that the episode will mark co-creator Bart Nickerson’s directorial debut. Co-creator Jonathan Lisco is also set to make his directorial debut with the season’s third episode.

Nearly a year ago, co-creator Ashley Lyle revealed that the series is due for a bonus episode before the release of Season 3, although this episode (let alone the upcoming season) hasn’t yet been given a release window.

Yellowjackets follows a high school girls’ soccer team’s attempt to survive after its plane to a tournament crashes in the chilly, remote wilderness, leaving its members stranded for 19 months. Through a second timeline, the show also focuses on the lives of the survivors 25 years later.

We gave the premiere of Yellowjackets an 8 in our review, calling it “an intriguing thriller for us to unravel in regards to who survives their 19-month ordeal, and what the experience has turned them into in the present.” Season 2 was jam-packed with new details to take note of, including some secrets tucked away in the opening credits and quite a few characters to keep track of.
