The Bear Has Reportedly Been Quietly Renewed for Season 4

FX plans to keep on cooking with The Bear, with various reports today saying it’s quietly renewed the critical darling for a fourth season.

The news came first from Deadline, followed shortly after by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. What’s more, the reports say the plans are to shoot Seasons 3 and 4 back-to-back on location in Chicago. Per THR, the reason for the quick shooting schedule is the network’s goal to keep releasing one season a year, especially as the cast gets more and more booked.

It’s true that The Bear’s cast has gotten busier and busier over the past year. Jeremy Allen White last appeared alongside Zac Efron in A24’s wrestling drama The Iron Claw, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach recently landed a high-profile role as Ben Grimm/The Thing in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie, which is set to release on July 25, 2025.

It looks like we'll be getting at least two more seasons of The Bear.

But perhaps the busiest of all of them is Ayo Edebiri, whose jam-packed 2023 included comedies Bottoms and Theater Camp, as well as voice roles in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. In fact, Edebiri’s schedule is so booked that she had to drop out of Marvel’s Thunderbolts due to scheduling conflicts, IGN previously confirmed.

Oddly enough, there’s been no official announcement from FX about Season 4, and representatives for the show have not yet responded to IGN’s request for comment.

Still, today’s news is obviously great news for fans of The Bear, which has indeed kept on a steady release schedule since Season 1 became a breakout success in June 2022. Season 2 was released a year later, and FX confirmed in February that, true to form, Season 3 will release this June.

The Bear Season 2 has continued to ride the high of its acclaimed first season, picking up a whopping six trophies at January’s Primetime Emmys (after already winning four at the Creative Arts Emmys). It was also one of IGN’s best shows of 2023, and we handed Season 2 a 10/10 in our review.
