PlayStation Experience Truck From 2006 Being Sold Online for $70,000

The year is 2006. Okami, Bully, and Call of Duty 3 are all on your wish list, but after visiting the PlayStation Experience truck and getting your hands on Sony’s first handheld, nothing sits higher than the PlayStation Portable.

While the games and consoles aren’t included, someone is now selling the 2006 PlayStation Experience truck on Facebook Marketplace for $70,000. Spotted by Reddit user ArguingMaster, the truck still comes lathered in PlayStation branding, with ATV Offroad Fury 4, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2, and NBA 07 all on show.

The truck was part of a marketing campaign for PlayStation and would travel around the U.S. to let fans (and prospective customers) have a shot of the latest and greatest games and consoles from Sony. Once parked up, its sides would unfurl and doors open to reveal a gaming paradise, letting fans get their hands on myriad consoles and games (despite this one being a few months short of also having the PlayStation 3 hooked up).

PlayStation’s slogan at the time, “Live in Your World, Play in Ours”, is also printed on the truck in fading letters, and the PSP and PS2 logos also feature all over alongside the PlayStation controller’s sacred symbols.

The truck would soon be retired as Sony released its PlayStation 3 version to tour the U.S. in its place. It doesn’t appear to have had much love since then, with the current owner saying it was “out of service for several years” and pulled out of storage with myriad issues like dry rotted tires.

Regardless, it still provided valuable memories to many. “Man, seeing this really brings me back,” wrote Andyman602 on the Reddit post. “I can vividly remember showing up to a Target store with my dad in Arizona when I was about 10 and this was out front.

“Got to play the Loco Roco demo and it lit a fire in me that hasn’t gone out. I immediately wanted to get a PSP, when I finally did it was a realization of a childhood dream. Still play that game sometimes and still have my generation one PSP. Good times.”
