In retro news, I’m celebrating the 26th birthday of StarCraft, the venerable RTS GOAT. It needs little introduction, so I’ll not zerg rush you with the fondest memories of the hundreds of hours I spent on it. Instead, let’s use this space to reminisce on how nuts 1998 was for Oz game launches. Half-Life, Ocarina of Time, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, Banjo-Kazooie, Baldur’s Gate, Pokémon Red and Blue—madness! It’s like the devs of the day heard “98” and mistook it for the review score to hit.

Hori Real Arcade Pro. V Hayabusa
Quality Hori Hayabusa components, well-spaced buttons, a sturdy build, and easy modding make this an excellent fight stick. A top choice for Smash Bros, Streeties 30th Anniversary, MK 1, MK 11, and that hundred odd range of Arcade Archives titles.
Far Cry 6 is some of the most fun I’ve had with this series in nearly a decade. Its cast delivers strong performances across an enjoyable story, and its creative weaponry is particularly satisfying. 8/10, great.
Call it instinct, but I think you’re going to feel the burning desire to replay this game come mid-month. And hey, any excuse is a good excuse to play this touchstone RPG. Because 9.5/10, amazing, borderline masterpiece.
A succinct story and a fantastic battle system help this RPG stand out. Relink’s fun action combat and interesting cast of characters has kept me happily playing long after I beat the final boss. 8/10, great.
