George R.R. Martin Announces House of the Dragon… Coloring Book

Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon is getting something quite contrary to the violence and sex-filled drama the show is known for: a coloring book.

Announced by A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, the coloring book arrives May 7 and features 75 illustrations of fan favorite scenes, characters, and show logos. Martin shared two of the pages on his blog, which show Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen together on one and the dragon Caraxes on the other.

“From the conflict between Rhaenyra and Alicent to Daemon burning the Crabfeeder army, explore the reign of the Targaryen Empire in Westeros with the official House of the Dragon coloring book,” reads the official synopsis on the books Amazon page, where it’s listed for $18.99. “Featuring over 75 original illustrations and thick paper, this coloring book offers you a way to relive the most dramatic moments from the hugely popular show.”

Martin added that downloading the two pages made available on his blog would make for good decorations for a House of the Dragon Season 2 premiere watch party when Episode 1 debuts on June 16, 2024.

Season 2 will continue the adaptation of Martin’s Fire and Blood, a book outlining the history of House Targaryen. The author has already seen the first two episodes and described them as “powerful, emotional, gut-wrenching, heart rending”, and “very dark”.

In our 9/10 review of Season 1, IGN said: “After 10 episodes, House Of The Dragon has officially emerged as a worthy successor to Game Of Thrones.”
