A Timeline of Every Celebrity Beauty Brand – Including Wyn by Serena Williams

There once was a time when it felt like every celebrity had a fragrance, from Britney Spears to Jennifer Lopez to Paris Hilton. Now, it feels like every celebrity has their own beauty brand, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon - in fact, celebrity-owned beauty companies only seem to be picking up speed. Rihanna (owner of Fenty Beauty and now Fenty Skin) and Kylie Jenner (of Kylie Cosmetics) were once the picture of success when it came to side hustles by way of beauty brands, but that's now become the norm. Having actresses, singers, models, and athletes double as beauty brand ambassadors is nothing new, but in recent years, we've seen more celebrities break off on their own and create namesake companies. In 2020 alone, we saw more than 10 new celebrity-owned companies hit the market, followed by 15 more in 2021. In 2022, we saw 18 celebrities launch their next venture into beauty and, while the launches eased up a bit in 2023, it's picking back up in 2024. In fact, within the first few months of the year, we've seen beauty brands from Hilary Duff, Sofía Vergara, and Beyoncé. Singer Sza also announced on Feb. 1 that she wore her own lip products to the Billboard Power 100 Event, hinting that she too may drop a collection soon. Then, hot on her hills came Bella Hadid, who announced the launch of her own brand, Orebella, on Feb. 22. On March 7, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announced his latest venture Papatui, a men's personal-care line and a month later on April 3, Serena Williams revealed details of her makeup brand, Wyn Beauty. We can see why it might be hard to keep track, so we rounded them up in a comprehensive list of celebrity beauty brands ahead. It all began decades ago. From the latest launches in 2024 dating back all the way to the 1990s, these are all of the celebrity-owned beauty brands that have come to fruition over the last 30 years - including the ones that are no more. The Best Serums For Every Skin Type and Need

Like baking, an effective face serum has everything to do with the ingredients. Finding the right recipe differs from person to person, depending on your individual skin type, goal, preferences, and needs. The market is filled with serums to address a variety of skin concerns, from dehydration to dark spots and acne - it's just a matter of finding the right product for you. Once you know some of the basic skin-care ingredients - such as niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides, for example - navigating the labels on your serums can be a breeze. Those with dry skin should look for hydrating ingredients like the aforementioned hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and vitamin E. Oily skin types should look for serums packed with exfoliating ingredients to keep their skin clear. This includes alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), and retinol to accelerate cell turnover and keep away clogged pores. There are also a handful of different serums that everyone can benefit from including in their skin-care routine such as a vitamin C serum to brighten skin tone and provide the skin with antioxidants to protect against free radicals. To stock up on the best serums to add to your regimen, no matter your skin type or needs, keep scrolling for our editor-approved picks. - Additional reporting by Jesa Calaor Related: Here's How (and Why) to Use Face Serum

Just How Naked You Should Get For Beauty Treatments

Despite trying a variety of other professional beauty treatments over the years, I had never gotten a spray tan until I was 23 years old. Like any other person trying something new, I texted my best friend (who's also a beauty editor) to ask her about the general protocol leading up to my appointment - when should I shower? Do I need to exfoliate before? Then I asked, "How naked do I get?" and she responded, "Like fully naked." I can't even begin to explain how many times I've asked that question, if not out loud to a friend then to myself in my head, before a beauty appointment. I'm the type of person who wants to go in with all of the details so I know what to expect, but for so many beauty treatments - be it for laser hair removal, a facial, a bikini wax, a massage, a spray tan, or even what to wear to a tattoo appointment - no one really tells you just how undressed you should prepare to get. While the general consensus will always be "get as naked as you feel comfortable with," you probably don't want to get too naked if you don't have to . . . you know what I mean? Don't get me wrong, in these types of pro appointments, they have seen it all and probably wouldn't bat an eye at you whether you leave your bra and underwear on or not, but still, it helps to know your options. If you've found yourself wondering the same thing about an upcoming appointment, we asked the experts to answer that burning question for different beauty treatments - so you can feel a little better about baring it all.

“Teasylights” Are the Secret to a More Natural-Looking Hair Color

Image Source: Getty/Edward Berthelot Changing your hair color can be a big deal, especially considering the many options to choose from. Sometimes, you can satisfy the itch with subtler tweaks like highlights. That's where "teasylights" come in. It's a hair color technique that's been around forever but is now getting more recognition, and it's worth asking your stylist about. You're likely familiar with '90s-style chunky highlights and face-framing money pieces, but maybe you've never heard of teasylights. That doesn't mean you haven't seen it. The technique is praised for its ability to give you the most natural-looking results, as the stylist can customize it to fit each individual perfectly. To learn more about teasylights from a professional colorist, keep reading. What Are Teasylights? With teasylights, it's not about a specific color. "Teasylights are a highlighting technique used by colorists to achieve an elevated, lived-in look while also preserving the client's natural color for a bespoke, beautifully blended, and most natural result," Ryan Dickie, a colorist at IGK Salon Miami, tells PS. Though it's highly customizable, the process always involves "back-combing, or teasing the hair toward the scalp." That's where it gets its name. This hair coloring technique works on all hair types and textures. "It's also easy to blend this technique with more conventional highlighting and balayage techniques," says Dickie. "It's safe to say I incorporate some sort of a teasylight method on 95 percent of my clients who are somehow lightening in any way." But that's not all - Dickie says the technique is also good for people who are looking to deepen their color. Dickie recommends being cautious before trying it if you have damaged, fine, or brittle hair. "The detangling process can sometimes add more stress to the already fragile hair," he says. "When done with care, this technique is suitable for anybody." How to Do Teasylights First, teasylights are not something you DIY at home. It's best to keep this technique to the professionals. Otherwise, "to keep my work tidy, efficient, and simple, I prefer to hold each subsection of the hair with tension toward the ends," says Dickie. He then uses his foiling comb to push the hair from mid-lengths toward the scalp. "The same rules of density of each subsection apply to both classic foils as well as teasylights, and saturation is key - no section should include more hair than can be fully saturated with lightener in each foil." He recommends the less is more approach. "Highlighting should be intentional," Dickie says. "If you're highlighting in a book, you would not highlight the entire page, as this would defeat the purpose of the highlighter." Use the teasylights technique to add a pop of color to your head and enhance your base shade. Teasylights vs. Highlights The untrained eye may not be able to tell teasylights from traditional highlights, but Dickie says there are a few key distinctions. With teasylights, "the client's natural hair is pushed back and out of the way, allowing you to preserve their natural color. This allows the colorist to simultaneously create lightness, as well as maintain natural dimension, eliminating the need for low-lighting," he says. When the coloring process is finished, the teased hair with the natural color still intact is re-sealed. "The natural hair that is pushed back will soften and diffuse the highlight to achieve the most authentic and lived-in look." How to Maintain Teasylights If you're looking for something that doesn't require you to trek to the salon every few weeks, you're in luck. "Teasylight are easily one of the most low-maintenance techniques," Dickie says. "As mentioned, using the client's natural hair as their dimension will ensure a seamless and ultra-graceful grow-out." In between appointments, keep your color looking fresh by using color-safe shampoos and conditioners (and opting for a purple shampoo if you're blond). And remember: heat protectants are a must for everyone, but especially to preserve color. Need any more proof that you won't be chained to the salon with this look? Dickie says he has some clients that he only sees twice a year with this coloring method. "This is our go-to." How to Make Hair Thicker, According to J Lo’s Hairstylist

Image Source: Getty/Dia Dipasupil The latest TikTok hair hacks, styling products on the market, and hairstyle trends all point to one thing: everyone is searching for how to get thicker hair. People are changing the way they wear their ponytails; brands are launching new volume-boosting formulas; and sleek, straight hairstyles have made way for the return of the iconic '90s supermodel blowout. Unless you were born with naturally thick hair, chances are you, too, have researched ways to add fullness, be it with a new haircut, a hairstyle change, or a post-shower styling hack executed with products to thicken hair. Some people are opting for layered cuts to add movement, while others are bookmarking countless tips to ensure their styles don't fall flat - especially if their hair is naturally thin. As for how to get thick hair, we've tapped an expert. Here, celebrity hairstylist and ColorWow brand ambassador Chris Appleton - the man responsible for Jennifer Lopez's volume-packed styles - is sharing his tips for how to make hair thicker. How to Get Thicker Hair Tip #1: Use a Round Brush at the Roots Sometimes, getting thicker hair is as simple as changing the way you style your hair post-shower. Appleton recommends using this hack to give lift to the roots of your hair: start by applying a thickening spray to your hair. "Spray the dry roots and take a large round brush, wrapping the pieces around it and lifting upwards while applying heat for just a few seconds," Appleton tells PS. The result? "Instant volume." Tip #2: Switch Your Part We know how hard it is to change something as ingrained in you as your hair part, but switching things up every now and again can help make your hair look thicker: positioning them in a new direction gives the roots of your hair a natural lift. Tip #3: Try the TikTok Ponytail Hack This viral TikTok is praised for its ability to give your ponytail a bouncy makeover. Split your hair into two sections, and secure the top section with an elastic tie. "Then divide the bottom part into two more sections and tie them on top of the first ponytail," Appleton says. @chrisappletonhair Try this hair hack for any one that wants to make there hair look thicker and upgrade there pony game 👱‍♀️@kittybluuuu ♬ Toxic x Pony - ALTÉGO Tip #4: Consider Extensions The easiest way to add thickness to your hair is extensions, Appleton says. Nearly all of your favorite celebrities' voluminous hairstyles utilize extensions for added fullness. You can go the salon route and get professionally installed extensions or get clip-ins that you can take in and out at home. Tip #5: Sleep in Braids "Sleeping in braids can give fine hair some extra fullness without using heat," Appleton says. Before bed, apply some hairspray to the ends of your hair before creating loose braids - either one big braid or two on either side of your head, depending on how long your hair is. "You'll wake up in the morning with voluminous waves with no heat," he says. Tip #6: Change Your Messy Bun If you have naturally thin hair, it can be hard to get fullness in a messy bun - but Appleton has a trick for that. Start by putting your hair up into a ponytail at the crown of your hair with a scrunchie, then spread the hair around the base of the ponytail and put an elastic on top. Separate the loose hair into two pieces and crisscross them around the base of the bun, securing the ends in place with two hair pins. @chrisappletonhair This is perfect for anyone with fine hair that wants to make there messy bun look triple the fitness in a few mins 🌪 ♬ Talking to the Moon - Bruno Mars Hairstyles For Thicker Hair We know what hairstyles aren't good for making your hair look thicker (sleek, one-length cuts, among others), but what about hairstyles that are? Bobs, for starters, are great for making hair look thicker than it is because there's no extra length weighing your ends down. "The popular '90s textured half-up half-down always helps create volume and fullness," Appleton says. "[And] long layers can help achieve the illusion of fullness." Products to Thicken Hair Product is often the secret to every great hairstyle - after all, your curls won't hold without a little hairspray, and frizz can't be tamed without a good hair oil. Appleton has a handful of favorite products in his kit for making hair thicker. On wet hair, apply a volumizing spray or mousse, like the ColorWow XL Bombshell Volumizer ($26) or the IGK Big Time Volume and Thickening Mousse ($32). Appleton also swears by root cover-up, even if you don't color your hair or have grays, to "fake a fuller hairline." We like the Madison Reed The Great Cover Up Root Touch Up + Brow Filler ($32) for filling in any sparse areas where your scalp shows. And for adding instant fullness to any hairstyle, look for a texturizing spray, like the Living Proof Full Dry Volume + Texturizing Spray ($36). Appleton's favorite is the ColorWow Style on Steroids ($28). "It's a great color-safe texturizing spray that doubles as a heat protectant," he says. "This product is especially amazing for anyone with fine, flat hair." Additionally, if you're looking for a shampoo for thicker hair, there are a few options on the market that help to add fullness. Our current favorite pick is the Bondi Boost Thickening Therapy Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner Duo ($50). Still, as great as some styling products can be for making your hair look thicker, there are products you should avoid if your hair is thin. "Don't use heavy conditioners or products with lots of oils - any heavy emulsifiers that sit on hair's surface and don't absorb will make the hair greasy and weighed down," Appleton says. - Additional reporting by Renee Rodriguez Jessica Harrington is the senior editor at POPSUGAR Beauty, where she writes about hair, makeup, skin care, piercings, tattoos, and more. 16 Vacation Nail Ideas to Get You Ready For Your Trip

Sometimes, the beauty prep for a vacation can take almost as long as the trip itself. Depending on where you're going (and how high maintenance you like to be beforehand in order to be low maintenance while you're there), you may want to get a spray tan, wax, and, of course, manicure. Picking out your vacation nails can often set the mood for your entire trip. Nothing pops against a tropical backdrop like a bright, mood-boosting color or wearing a trendy nail design to a new city of your choice. When searching for vacation nail ideas, Instagram is your bible. Whether you're a maximalist or a minimalist with your beauty choices, you'll find no shortage of inspiration. The design you choose largely depends on where you're going and the time of year. Your typical beach vacation nails may include seashells or fun vacation nail colors of neons and pastels. If you want something a little less on the nose and classy vacation nail designs are more your vibe, there are plenty of options for you outside of your stereotypical choices. French manicures, for example, are super popular right now and make for great vacation nail art depending on the color you use, and "aura nails" basically scream holiday. "Digital lavender" nails and chrome are also great for anyone who doesn't like nail art. For extra-long trips, you may want to consider picking a design with a neutral base - this will help disguise new growth and keep your manicure looking fresh for longer. Most varieties of french tips are great for this (minus the "inverted" french, which has color along the cuticle), as are ombré gradients and negative-space designs. No matter where and when you're going, ahead you'll find a variety of vacation nail ideas to inspire your pick at the salon.

This Hailey Bieber-Loved Brand Makes 1 of the Best Face Sunscreens

I'm ashamed to admit that back in high school (and even college) my sun-protection game was weak (read: almost nonexistent). Luckily, I've come a long way since those days of laying out in the sun sans any SPF. Now, no matter the weather or the time of year, you won't ever catch me without face sunscreen on. Over the years, I've tried my fair share of options and am delighted when I find one that I actually look forward to applying. My latest obsession? The Kosas DreamBeam SPF 40 PA++++ ($40). Though Kosas carries a variety of makeup products (many of which are loved by Hailey Bieber), DreamBeam, which launched in April 2023, was the brand's first sunscreen. It was such a hit that Kosas released a second shade, Sunlit, a year later. It's a mineral formula with a radiant hue that helps neutralize the white cast of the zinc oxide. That said, it doesn't provide any coverage but does create a blurring, filter-like effect. The formula is hydrating, fast-absorbing, and doesn't have that greasy sunscreen-like feel some products do. Read my full review of the Kosas DreamBeam SPF 40 below. About the Kosas DreamBeam SPF 40 It's a mineral formula with non-nano zinc oxide that provides SPF 40 protection. It features ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and peptides to moisturize and soothe the skin. The brand designed it to be worn alone or layered under makeup without any pilling. It's safe for all skin types (including sensitive), hypoallergenic, and noncomedogenic. What I Like About the Kosas DreamBeam SPF 40 I've tried countless face sunscreen formulas over the years, but the ones that make it into my skin-care routine long-term have to feel good on my skin (not greasy or heavy) and layer well under makeup. We've all probably found an SPF that we love, only to find that it pills the second you try to apply concealer or foundation on top of it. Kosas is a makeup brand first and foremost, so DreamBeam needed to play well with other products. Another thing I love about this SPF is the radiance-boosting hue, which helps to counteract the white color of the zinc oxide and makes my skin look smooth and even. The original shade has a peachy, luminous finish while the new one, Sunlit, has a golden bronze glow. Ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and peptides in the formula make it feel comfortable to wear and provide my dry skin with tons of moisture. How to Use the Kosas DreamBeam SPF 40 I use Kosas's DreamBeam as the final step in my morning skin-care routine, right before makeup. After giving my moisturizer a minute or two to absorb, I blend two fingers' worth of product into my face with my hands and carry it down to my neck. Then after letting it sink in for another minute, I'm ready to put on some makeup or leave my skin as is. It doesn't matter how I apply my complexion products on top of this SPF - hands, brush, damp makeup sponge - they always layer nicely. What to Consider Before Trying the Kosas DreamBeam SPF 40 I find that the Kosas DreamBeam SPF 40 blends easily into my skin tone, but it's worth noting that mineral sunscreens can leave behind a white cast on melanated skin. This is something one POPSUGAR editor with a deeper complexion experienced when testing this product, so shoppers with dark skin tones should take that into consideration. This $28 Radiant Concealer Lets Me Skip Foundation Entirely

I don't wear foundation, meaning I need my concealer to really pull its weight. And I'm picky. Even though I don't like heavy coverage and want my skin to look natural underneath a layer of product, I still want a concealer that will help even out my complexion. The newest product that I've found that does all of that and more is the Saie Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer ($28). Saie has been working on this product for a few years, and the final result was well worth the wait. The brand already carries a range of complexion products, from a foundation to its cult-favorite and editor-loved Glowy Super Gel, but Saie's only existing concealer is really more of an eye brightener. This new product can be used all over the face to brighten, cover, and blur. Keep reading for my honest review of the Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer. About the Saie Slip Tint Radiant Concealer It's a lightweight, medium-coverage cream concealer with a doe-foot applicator. It offers a natural, radiant finish. The formula contains niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin to hydrate and brighten. It comes in 25 shades, with options for all undertones. The product is gluten- and cruelty-free, noncomedogenic, and labeled as "clean" and "planet positive" by Sephora's standards. What I Like About the Saie Slip Tint Radiant Concealer The Saie Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer is a minimal makeup lover's dream. It has a creamy finish that blends seamlessly onto my skin. Though the brand says the coverage is medium, I'd characterize it as more light to medium; one coat offers a lighter coverage, but it's buildable, so you can work your way up to medium. The brand carries 25 shades, with options for all undertones, from neutral to peach to cool. I use a combination of two colors: shade 2, described as "very light with peach undertones," to brighten under my eyes, and shade 5, "light with peach undertones," for traditional concealing. (Though if I were only to buy one product, I would likely go with shade 5, because it's a better match for my entire face.) It leaves my skin with a hydrated, dewy appearance, likely thanks to its skin-care-forward ingredients. Hyaluronic acid and glycerin boost the skin's moisture levels, while niacinamide helps brighten and smooth. I don't have to worry about it clogging pores, because it's noncomedogenic. Immediately after applying it, my skin looks glowy, plump, and even. By the end of the day, the coverage is still there, and it only settles marginally into creases, as most concealers do. How to Use the Saie Slip Tint Radiant Concealer I change how I apply it depending on how I'm feeling that day. I start by applying concealer to my face using the doe-foot applicator. I focus the pigment under my eyes, between my eyebrows, around my nose, and on any spots on my chin. Then I let it dry for a minute while I do something else in my routine (like applying my contour) to help it set. I learned this hack from a makeup artist years ago, allowing me to use far less product. To blend, I sometimes use a fluffy brush in swirling and dabbing motions; this helps me achieve more opaque coverage. If I want a really light and natural no-makeup makeup look, I'll use a damp makeup sponge to blend, which sheers out the formula. What to Consider Before Trying the Saie Slip Tint Radiant Concealer Though I love it when my makeup looks so radiant that my face is borderline reflective, the finish on the Saie Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer is very hydrating and dewy, meaning it can leave certain areas of your face looking a little shiny. If you'd prefer to tone it down a bit in your T-zone (or anywhere else on your face), I'd recommend using a setting powder. Where Is the Saie Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer Available? The Saie Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer is available at Sephora and the brand's website. Rating:

These Are the Iconic ’90s Makeup Trends Making a Comeback

The 1990s were a good time for music and rom-coms, but the beauty trends from that decade were a mixed bag (yet still undoubtedly better than the 2000s). Whether you loved looks from the '90s or not, one thing is clear: there was no such thing as minimalism when it came to makeup. Celebrities and models were seen rocking everything from dark lip liner to bold, sparkly eyeshadow, and the maximalism didn't stop there. Authentic '90s makeup meant ultra-thin eyebrows, frosted lips, and even face gems. While we may have at one point thought these looks were gone for good, some of the hottest 1990s makeup looks are currently making a comeback. These days, everyone is looking to embrace the maximalism and take their makeup looks to the next level. If at some point you rocked some fabulously flipped ends or know the struggles of trying to wash off body glitter, then you're a '90s kid and therefore probably get weirdly nostalgic when you see a picture of stick-on earrings. Ahead, we invite you to take a trip down memory lane as we round up the best '90s makeup trends of all time.
